The Complete List of Things the iPhone Lacks

This is my attempt the list everything that the iPhone lacks. Some things aren't included because I think they would detract from product. And increases in speed, megapixels, etc. aren't included either. The "Maybes" are things that are (a) not really needed, or (b) might detract from the experience.


  • Cloud
  • iMessage on different platforms
  • Better enterprise
  • Get mail instantly
  • Better YouTube app
  • Better maps app
  • Built in social (post to facebook, twitter, linkedin)
  • Upload built in/you can choose (youtube, vimeo, flickr, etc)
  • Load webpages in background
  • Songs you bought in iTunes turn into ringtones for free
  • LED notification light
  • Update apps without being on home screen
  • Stay in app store after buying app
  • WiFi calling
  • Gmail
  • Wireless app installation, buy apps and sync on the web
  • Offline maps
  • Gorilla glass 3
  • Microsoft Office apps
  • Update apps in background
  • Pages, Keynote, and Numbers (iWork), with built-in MS Office support
  • 4G
  • TV tuner
  • HD FM and AM radio
  • Photobooth
  • iChat
  • A button that turns on the camera
  • More built in voice functionality
  • Easier to import facebook contacts and phone numbers
  • iTunes redesign: faster, not as "bulky"
  • Media, contacts, etc in the cloud (MobileMe makeover?)
  • Cheaper movie rentals (Redbox rents them for 99 cents)
  • Better way to find apps in the App Store, besides the most popular ones
  • Better notifications
  • Better auto correct
  • Alternative browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer)
  • Verizon hotspot; talk and browse at the same time
  • More colors (white, etc.)
  • Facetime over 3G
  • Free navigation app built in
  • 64 GB and maybe more built - in
  • HDMI Out (or does that iPad HDMI cable work for the iPhone?)
  • Bluetooth 3
  • Better camera app (zoom?)
  • Better stocks app
  • New social app (maybe revamped Game Center)
  • Ability to switch default browser
  • NFC
  • Better weather app
  • iPhoto (built in to the Pictures app, maybe)
  • App previews before you buy
  • Artist page on iTunes app
  • Facetime open source
  • Quad core processor
  • Unibody
  • Tasker for Android
  • ACDC, Kid Rock, Rolling Stones "Forty Licks" in iTunes
  • Subscribe to and read magazines/newspapers (kinda)
  • Better web apps, maybe even a web apps store
  • No Safari lag
  • Fix the "death grip"
  • Better Ping
  • Detect different stands (like for a bedside, clock stand)
  • iBooks lend and rent features
  • Time stamps on text messages
  • Group texting built in
  • Swype/alternate keyboards
  • True app integration

  • Widgets (like Android)

  • iTunes name change
